It all begins with a seed

Spencer Viner BA Landscape Architecture
Leeds Metropolitan University

I founded my contemporary garden-making business in 2001. My goals are to enjoy my work and be creative by sharing my passion and the knowledge that I have gained from over 30 years of working with and studying garden design.

The outdoor spaces I make are well-crafted, artistically designed and resilient to environmental and ecological concerns.

I believe that a garden can be the best room in the house, fulfilling the many needs of living well. I focus on creating gardens that resonate with our sense of well-being, and that goes beyond the notion of the garden only being an ornament. I have always placed great importance on living well, being creative and physically active, taking inspiration from nature, art, travel and the way the natural world works.

My degree in landscape architecture underlined the importance of how we interact with outdoor spaces and gardens. Our environment directly affects our sense of well being, and it is this principle I bring into my work.

Working with my clients, I create gardens that meet both socialising and contemplation needs. A space for recreation or simply idling in the comfort of a day-bed or swing-seat, A personal space to observe the garden and its inspirational trees and plants, hosting bees, butterflies and garden birds as they play out in nature’s seasons.

My home courtyard garden has been published in the beautiful Gardens Illustrated magazine, appeared in Marianne Majerus’ inspiration book ‘Garden Design - A Book of Ideas', and featured in Homes & Gardens magazine under the title ‘Dream Gardens’.

I have designed and created scores of well-crafted gardens in and around the London area and beyond, and have the testimonials to show.

Successful garden-making is ultimately about good teamwork, clear communication of ideas and intention between designer, client and contractor.
